Spicy Braised Tofu

Ingredients (makes 2 servings):

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp gochugaru

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 ½ tbsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 medium green onion

  • 1/4-1 whole, seedless jalapeno (adjust to heat preference)

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • salt to taste

  • 1 medium firm tofu pack (13.5 oz)

  • How to make it yourself:

  • Dice your jalapeño and green onion into small pieces

  • Drain your tofu and pat dry

  • Slice the tofu into small rectangles

  • Salt your tofu pieces to taste

  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, water, green onion, jalapeño, brown sugar, minced garlic, and gochugaru and mix well.

  • In a pan coated with spray oil on medium heat, grill your tofu pieces until lightly golden on both sides

  • Lower the heat to low and pour your sauce on top of the tofu and let it cook for 1-2 minutes

  • Pour it all into an airtight container to enjoy later!
