It’s basically free since I almost always have everything on hand. If you need a dinner side your kids won’t fight, this is the one.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE RICE A RONI:

Melt 3 tbsp of butter in about 1 tbsp of oil. Add in 3/4 cup dry fideo pasta. Brown it until golden. Stir in 1 diced onion and sauté until it softens.

Add 1 cup of washed basmati rice and toast. Add seasonings: 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1/2 tbsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt (adjust if broth is unsalted), 1/4 tsp pepper, 1 tsp parsley (or Italian seasoning if you’re out). Optionally, add in 1/4 tsp of turmeric for color.

Toast everything for a minute or two. Add 2 cups chicken broth (I use water + 1 generous tbsp Better Than Bouillon). Bring to a simmer, cover, and I don’t lift the lid before 22 minutes.
