This is why I always say keep some cans of tomatoes and pasta in the pantry.
You need for a pound of pasta-
1-28 oz can whole tomatoes crushed with your hands (first pic)
2-garlic cloves left whole
1/4-cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2-tsp salt
1/4-tsp black pepper
a few basil leaves if you have some
1-add the olive oil, garlic to a skillet put the heat to low and sauté until the garlic turns golden, remove it or leave it your choice
2-add the tomatoes, basil (if using), salt, pepper with the heat on medium cook the sauce for 15 minutes not covered
3-now this step is very important cook your pasta about a minute short of the recommended time strain the water add the pasta back to the skillet with the sauce
4-on a low heat toss for a minute or two until the pasta is fully coated
Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and grated cheese
