The short version: a recipe passed between two women who chose friendship over rivalry. Patti Edwards passed away this February and her family shared this recipe with the world. My great-grandma found it, thought of me, and here we are.

My husband said it is the best cake I have ever made. I’ve made it twice in two weeks. That should tell you everything. It’s SO good 🤍

CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE

Given to Pat Edwards (wife of BYU coach Lavell Edwards) by Cindy Meyer (wife of SMU coach Ron Meyer)

1 box yellow cake mix

1 small instant chocolate pudding

½ cup sugar

¾ cup oil

¾ cup water

4 eggs

1 small package chocolate chips

8 oz. sour cream

Instructions

Mix cake mix, pudding and sugar together.

Add oil, water and eggs and beat with a wooden spoon.

Add sour cream and chocolate chips and stir until combined.

Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes. Cool for one full hour before removing from pan.

That’s it. That’s the whole thing. Make it this week or save this and make it this weekend 🫶🏼

Week 4 of What I Made Last Sunday. Every Monday I share a recipe worth keeping!

Follow along so you don’t miss one xoxo, Emi

P.S. This is the same great-grandma responsible for the viral old fashion apple cake. She really is the best!
