Fudgy Oatmeal Bars

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1 package (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease jelly roll pan (15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches). Mix brown sugar, 1 cup butter, the eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a large bowl. Stir in flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Reserve 1/3 of the mixture.
2. Press remaining mixture in pan.
3. Heat chocolate chips, milk and 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla and spread over oatmeal mixture in pan.
4. Drop reserved oatmeal mixture by rounded teaspoons onto chocolate. Bake 25-30 minutes. Yield 70 cookies.
