Nonna’s Rustic Walnut and Orange Biscuits

Ingrédients

400g plain flour

80g butter, melted

100g sugar

1 tsp baking powder

150g walnuts, chopped

½ tsp Cinnamon

½ tsp cloves

½ tsp nutmeg

Pinch of salt

Zest of 1 orange

3 eggs

Instructions

Mix the flour, walnuts, baking powder, salt and spices in a bowl. In a large bowl, whisk 2 eggs with the sugar, butter and the orange zest. Add the flour/walnut mixture to the egg, mix and knead to a smooth dough. Scoop a tablespoon of the dough into your palm and work it in your hands squeezing until it’s smooth. Then place them on a board and form them into log shapes pressing the walnut pieces into the dough as much as you can. Place them on the baking tray about 5cm apart. Beat the remaining egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush over the top of the biscuits. Bake for 15mins at 180C then reduce the oven to 160C and bake for another 10mins
