Labneh Rose Buns
Ingredients
For the dough:
500 g purple flour (4 cups)
150 ml warm milk (¾ cup)
150 ml warm water (¾ cup)
35 ml vegetable oil (3 tablespoons)
30 g butter (2 tablespoons)
7 g dry yeast (1 packet)
5 g granulated sugar (1 teaspoon)
5 g salt (1 teaspoon)
15 g yogurt (1 tablespoon)
For the filling:
200 g labneh cheese (1 cup)
For the topping:
1 egg white
Poppy seeds
Sesame seeds
Instructions
Mix the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Add the vegetable oil, butter, yogurt, and salt.
Gradually add the flour and knead until you get a soft but cohesive dough.
Cover and let the dough rise for 45 minutes.
Divide the dough into mandarin-sized balls.
Roll each ball out to the size of a tea saucer.
Place 1 teaspoon of labneh in the center.
Make four cuts around the dough and wrap the pieces over each other to form a rose shape 🌹
Arrange on a baking tray and let rest for 15–20 minutes.
Brush only with egg white.
Sprinkle poppy seeds on the center where the labneh is visible, and lightly sprinkle sesame seeds on the remaining parts.
Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) top-and-bottom oven for 25–30 minutes.
