Sandwich Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200 ml warm water (1 cup)
- 200 ml warm milk (1 cup)
- 50 g soft butter
- 1 egg white
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 20 g fresh yeast (or 10 g dry yeast)
- 600-650 g flour (5 cups + 1-2 tablespoons)
For the topping:
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons milk
- Optional: sesame seeds
Instructions:
1. Place all the dough ingredients, except for the butter, in a mixing bowl and start kneading. Add the butter while kneading and continue until you get a soft dough.
2. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 45 minutes.
3. Divide the dough into 12 portions. Flatten each portion first with your hands, then with a rolling pin.
4. Roll each piece into a cylinder, seal the seam, and place them on a baking tray with the seam side down, leaving some space between them.
5. Let them rise for another 30 minutes on the tray.
6. Beat the egg yolk with the milk and brush it over the dough. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
7. Bake in a preheated 190°C fan-assisted oven for about 17-20 minutes, until golden brown.
