Ingrédients

Delicate apple roses with a braided puff pastry base – easy to make and stunning to serve!

Ingredients (for 6 pieces):

1 sheet of refrigerated puff pastry (about 275 g / 9.7 oz)

2-3 apples (e.g. Elstar, Braeburn – with skin)

1 egg yolk (for brushing)

1–2 tsp maple syrup

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F) top/bottom heat.

Roll out the puff pastry (approx. 25 × 40 cm / 10 × 16″) and cut it lengthwise into 6 even strips.

Cut 2 slits lengthwise into each strip (leaving one edge intact) and braid each into a flat puff pastry braid.

Core the apples and slice them very thinly (a mandoline works best). No need to peel them.

Place the apple slices slightly overlapping along one side of each braid, just like with classic apple roses. Do not fold the dough over the apples.

Roll up the strips into roses and place them into muffin tins or tartlet molds.

Brush the exposed dough with egg yolk.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Let cool slightly, then brush the apples with a little maple syrup for shine.

Once fully cooled, dust with powdered sugar and enjoy!
