190 g (1 cup) dry red lentils [680 kcal]

75 g chopped onion (about half an onion) [30 kcal]

705 g (3 cups) water

1 tsp (7 g) table salt

1 tbsp chopped coriander, for garnish

Nutritional information: 710 kcal, 46g protein, or 237 kcal, 15 g protein for 3 servings

Ohjeet

Add lentils, onion, salt and water to saucepan, then bring to the boil.

Once the water boils, cover and reduce the heat. Leave to simmer for 1 hour, stirring regularly. Stir constantly for the last minute because it catches on the bottom.

When the lentils have broken down and become thick, taste and season for salt. Add chopped coriander, and serve.

My version.

Lentils: red lentils, mung lentils, even split peas can work. Green lentils do not work as they do not break down.
