Ingredientes

It’s been almost two years since I’ve done this cocktail, so it deserved a revisit. As you can tell by the name, it’s dedicated to the man Ernest Hemingway. He used to be a regular at the infamous El Floridita bar in Havana, Cuba.

He was a fan of their famous daiquiris, but asked the bartender for less sugar and double the rum. The bartender, Constantino Ribalaigua, created this variation which became known as Papa Doble, meaning “Papa’s Double.”

Overtime, the drink evolved to include grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur for balance, becoming known as the Hemingway Special or Hemingway Daiquiri.

HEMINGWAY SPECIAL

25oz 2:1 syrup

5oz Maraschino

5oz Grapefruit

75oz Lime

2oz White Rum

Instrucciones

Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin, add ice, shake, and double strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.
