Saltine Cracker Toffee Recipe

Ingredientes

50 saltine crackers

2 sticks butter

1 cup light brown sugar (packed)

chocolate chips (2 cups)

sliced almonds (about 1/2 cup)

Instrucciones

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line 9×13" jelly roll/baking sheet pan with aluminum foil. Spray foil with cooking spray and then line pan with saltine crackers.

Melt butter and brown sugar together in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. You want the butter and sugar to be combined and turn an amber caramel color.

After 3 minutes, remove pan from heat and pour evenly over the saltine crackers. Spread mixture with a knife. Place pan in oven and bake for 5 minutes or until lightly golden brown. The mixture will be bubbly.

Remove pan from oven and let sit for a minute, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Put back in oven for 1 minute to melt. Take out of oven and spread chocolate all over the top with a spatula. Add nuts if desired.

Allow the toffee to cool at room temp for 30 minutes, then in the fridge for 30 minutes. Break into pieces and enjoy!

It’s best to keep refrigerated!
