• 200-250g rice cakes.
• 30g tomato paste.
• 15g date syrup (or honey).
• 1/2 tsp harissa (about 2g, for a mild heat).
• 1-2 tsp ras el hanout (about 4-8g).
• 1 garlic clove (minced).
• 15ml olive oil.
• 1 tsp cumin (about 2g).
• 1/4 tsp cinnamon (about 0.5g).
• 15ml soy sauce.
• 5ml lemon juice or vinegar.
• 120ml hot water (dissolve 1/4 of a chicken broth cube in this).
• Salt and pepper (to taste).
• Handful of chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish.

• Dissolve a chicken broth cube in hot water.
• In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
• Add the tomato paste, harissa, and cook for 1-2 minutes to release the flavors.
• Stir in ras el hanout, cumin, and cinnamon.
• Pour in the soy sauce, lemon juice, and the prepared broth, stirring to create a smooth sauce.
• Mix in the date syrup.
• Add the rice cakes and simmer until they soften, and the sauce thickens.
• Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, and garnish with parsley or cilantro.
