These Stewed Chickpeas Are Inspired by Muhammara, a Tangy-sm

I made muhammara (using @rainbowplantlife recipe) recently and immediately knew that I needed to take the key ingredients (walnuts, roasted red peppers, Aleppo pepper, and pomegranate molasses) and make it into a stewy sauce. The result is something inspired by muhammara with many of the core ingredients, but I took a few creative liberties to turn it into a chickpea main.

Pomegranate molasses is a bit of a harder to find ingredient but it is pretty key to the flavor profile. You can find it online or if you have an international market (I got mine at YDFM for those in Atlanta) you’ll likely find it there. Molasses is not a direct swap!

Anyway I 10/10 recommend this if you’re looking for a different way to serve up chickpeas! Ive mostly enjoyed it over rice but think that it would be fantastic over whipped feta or in pita bread with cucumbers and hummus.
