8 slices ham (thinly sliced)
8 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère work best)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Raspberry preserves
Powdered sugar for dusting
Anweisungen
Prep the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry sheets and roll them out slightly to smooth the edges.
Layer the Filling: On one sheet of puff pastry, spread a thin layer of preserves and arrange the ham slices evenly, followed by the cheese.
Top and Seal: Lay the second sheet of puff pastry over the top, pressing gently to seal the edges. Use a fork to crimp the edges, which not only helps keep the layers together but also gives the bars a nice decorative touch.
Brush with Egg Wash: Transfer the puff pastry stack to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give the pastry a glossy, golden finish when baked.
Bake: Place the puff pastry in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown. The cheese inside should be perfectly melted, while the outer layers remain crisp.
Slice and Serve: Let the pastry cool for a few minutes before slicing it into squares or rectangles. Serve warm for the best experience, and enjoy the flaky layers and deliciously gooey center!
