Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs

2 packets chicken gravy mix (about 1 oz each)

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste

2 tbsp butter (optional, extra rich)

To serve: mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles

Vejledning

Spray the slow cooker with cooking spray. Lay the chicken in a single layer on the bottom.

In a bowl, whisk together gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, pepper, and salt until smooth.

Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken. Add butter on top if using.

Cover and cook on Low for 5 to 6 hours or on High for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is very tender and shreds easily.

Shred the chicken right in the slow cooker with two forks and stir so it is fully mixed into the gravy. Taste and add a little more salt or pepper if needed.

Spoon the creamy chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles and serve warm.
