Chocolate Babka

1 cup warm milk

2¼ tsp active dry yeast

½ cup sugar

4½ cups all-purpose flour

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp salt

10 tbsp softened butter

Vejledning

In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.

Add eggs and warm milk and mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Gradually add softened butter and continue kneading until fully incorporated and stretchy.

Cover and let rise 1½–2 hours until doubled in size.

Cut the dough in half and roll each piece out. Spread with chocolate spread, then roll tightly into logs.

Cut each roll in half lengthwise and twist the pieces together to create spirals.

Braid the spirals, place into baking pans, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.

Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes until golden brown ✨
