2 pounds lean ground beef
½ cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
¼ cup milk
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
¾ cup water
1 (1 ounce) packet dry au jus mix

Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, and onion soup mix together in a large bowl until well combined; shape into 8 patties.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dredge patties in flour just to coat, and quickly brown on both sides in the hot skillet.
Place browned patties into the slow cooker stacking alternately like a pyramid.
Mix condensed soup, water, and au jus mix together in a medium bowl; pour over the beef patties.
Cook on Low until ground beef is well done, about 4 to 5 hours.
INSTANT POT
Mix and Shape Patties:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, and onion soup mix.
Shape into 6–8 patties.
Brown Patties (Sauté Mode):
Turn the Instant Pot to Sauté (Normal/Medium).
Add oil. Dredge each patty lightly in flour, then brown both sides for about 1–2 minutes per side (do this in batches if needed).
Remove patties to a plate.
Deglaze:
Pour about ¼ cup of water or beef broth into the pot and scrape the bottom well with a wooden spoon to remove any browned bits (important to prevent a burn notice).
Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the condensed soup, ⅓ cup water, and dry au jus mix. Pour it into the pot.
Pressure Cook:
Return patties to the pot, stacking gently. Spoon a little sauce over them.
Seal the lid, set the valve to Sealing, and cook on High Pressure for 10 minutes.
Natural Release:
Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the rest.
