Homemade Cinnamon Roll Recipe That Is Easy Enough to Make Ch

2 packets Yeast (about 4 1/2 tsp)
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups water
6 tbsp unsalted butter
1 large egg
Filling
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
ICING:
4 oz cream cheese, room temp
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
1/2 cup powdered sugar (can add more if you want it sweeter)
2 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
Warm water and butter in the microwave 30–45 seconds (butter won’t fully melt).
Add to dry ingredients with the egg; mix.
Add 2 cups flour and stir until thick and sticky.
Add 1/2 cup flour; when dough becomes shaggy, start kneading.
Add 1/4 cup flour and knead until soft, smooth, and tacky.
Finger-test: if dough sticks, add another 1/4 cup flour and knead; if not, shape into a ball and rest 10 minutes.
Dough should puff slightly.
Roll on floured surface into a 10×15-inch rectangle.
Spread butter, leaving a 1/2-inch border. And sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
Roll tightly from the long side; lightly squeeze ends.
Slice off ends, then cut into 12 rolls a sharp knife.
Place in a greased 9×13 (or two 9-inch rounds).
Cover and rise 1 hour in a warm spot (use a warmed, turned-off oven if needed).
Remove rolls, preheat to 350°F, bake 25–30 min until golden.
Cool slightly and frost.
Mix frosting ingredients with a hand mixer.
OVERNIGHT INSTRUCTIONS: After step 11, cover the rolls in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight. Before baking the next day, allow the rolls to rest at room temperature (covered) for about 45 minutes. They may not puff up but that’s OK. Follow the same baking instructions.
